Fellowship
overview
Christiana Care offers an academic and clinical fellowship in
cardiovascular medicine. This fully accredited, three-year program
provides superior, 'hands on' training for physicians who wish to become
highly skilled clinical cardiologists as well as educators and
investigators in cardiovascular disease. Successful candidates will
develop the ability to provide high quality care in an environment where
value outcomes are increasingly becoming the 'bottom line.' The program
prepares the fellow to proceed onto a fourth year fellowship in
subspecialties such as electrophysiology, interventional cardiology,
echocardiography and cardiac imaging.
Drawing from a wide range of patient care experiences, a broad-based
curriculum incorporates the latest advances in preventive cardiology and
cardiovascular medicine. Fellows will be trained in patient management as
well as in all invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic
modalities. Since Christiana Care is the largest teaching affiliate of
Jefferson Medical College there is ample opportunity to teach residents
and medical students in a variety of settings. Over the course of the
three-year fellowship, six months will be devoted to research.
Our aim is to prepare clinical cardiologists to provide
state-of-the-art cardiovascular care that recognizes the shared humanity
between doctor and patient, family and loved ones. Our philosophy in
educating physicians now and for the future combines excellence in patient
care with excellence in scholarship.
