A research study is underway at the Christiana Care Helen F. Graham Cancer Center to determine if an investigational compound can shrink, eliminate, or stop the growth of melanoma tumors and whether the compound is safe and well tolerated. The study also will assess overall patient survival.
Melanoma is cancer of the skin. In advanced stages, it is a serious, life-threatening disease. This study, known as A3671008, is seeking adults (18 years of age and older) with surgically incurable Stage III or IV melanoma whose melanoma has progressed in spite of one prior systemic therapy with dacarbazine, temozolomide, interleukin-2, and/or interferon-a.
The investigational compound is being studied to determine if it can stimulate patients' immune systems to attack their tumors.
