Christiana Care Health System Sports Medicine Services are committed to health care, education and research as a means to improving the health and fitness of all individuals in the communities we serve.

Sports medicine is the branch of medicine that specializes in the prevention and treatment of injuries and illness resulting from training for and participation in athletic events or the maintenance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Among the most common sports injuries are shin splints, runner's knee, pulled hamstring muscles, Achilles tendonitis, and ankle sprains.  We also work with athletes who have concussions, eating disorders, skin infections and performance issues.

Christiana Care's multidisciplinary network of community sports medicine clinicians includes sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, nurse practitioners, exercise physiologists, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, nutritionists, psychologists and speech pathologists. These specialized services are for athletes of all ages.
