Orientation
First-year emergency medicine/internal medicine (EM/IM) residents participate in a four-week orientation block together with the categorical emergency medicine (EM) and combined emergency medicine/family medicine (EM/FM) residents when they begin their training. The orientation block serves as a foundation for teamwork, comaraderie and clinical knowledge. Daily didactic and hands-on skills sessions led by residents and faculty provide a framework for developing clinical and procedural skills in the emergency department. Several social and team-building events are scheduled throughout the block.
