Glen H. Tinkoff, M.D.
Associate Chair, Surgery
He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, School of Medicine, and completed general surgery residency at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, as well as fellowships in surgical critical care at State University of New York at Stony Brook and trauma research at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa.
He was recruited in 1992 to Christiana Care Health System as the medical director of the trauma program, a position in which he served until 2008. He remains clinically active in trauma care and serves the Delaware Division of Public Health’s as the medical advisor to the state trauma system. He currently chairs the Trauma Prevention Coalition, which represents the major professional trauma organizations through promoting collaborative efforts and developing effective strategies in injury and violence prevention.
Dr. Tinkoff recently completed 18 years on the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, during which he served on its region committee as state chair and region chief, executive committee, and most recently as chair of the performance improvement and patient safety committee. He also served as chair of the injury prevention committees of both the Eastern Association for Surgery of Trauma and the American Association for Surgery of Trauma.
Dr. Tinkoff has numerous peer reviewed publications and has provided invited lectures on clinical issues in acute care surgery, trauma center and systems administration and management, trauma-related performance improvement and peer review, and surgical education. He recently was awarded the National Safety Council’s Surgeon’s Award for Service to Safety for 2014.
