Labor and Delivery

Christiana Hospital's 16 private birthing rooms are designed for your comfort and support, so that you can labor and deliver in the same bed, without having to move to another room. Each room has plenty of space to accommodate the labor and delivery team and up to three labor coaches or support persons. Each room contains a private bathroom fitted with a spa shower head for soothing water therapy, a stuffed recliner, a telephone and a color television.

Of course, your health and the health of your newborn are our primary concern. Our labor and delivery rooms are fully equipped with the most up-to-date obstetrical and fetal monitoring technology. Should the need arise, three operating suites for Cesarean delivery are located nearby, along with six post-anesthesia recovery rooms. Our Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit for newborns who need intensive medical care is also close by.

When you arrive, your labor and delivery nurse will assist you in getting settled and review your birth plan to help ensure that your wishes are followed with the approval of your doctor.
