Private Duty Nursing and Pediatric Home Care
Christiana Care VNA's private-duty nursing is trusted by more families throughout Delaware to provide the highest skilled care to children with the most challenging pediatric health problems. Families choose our pediatric nursing care specialists most often because we provide comprehensive care plans, convenient and professional management, highly trained, experienced nurses, and a nationally recognized orientation program. We want to help you and your child to thrive at home.
Our highly skilled and accredited registered nurses and licensed practical nurses support chronically ill children at home, in the hospital and anywhere in the community for up to 24 hours daily, giving parents the time to work and to sleep. Our nurses care for children, adolescents and young adults up to 21 years of age, and support family members in their care for their loved one. (We are able to provide this level of support to adult patients as well.)
Many of the children in our care live with one or more of the following:
- Ventilator support (continuous or intermittent).
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia and other respiratory disorders. - Muscular dystrophies.
- Seizure disorders.
- Tracheostomy or tracheomalacia.
- G-tube, G/J tube or N/G tube.
- Cerebral palsy.
- Cardiac anomalies.
These conditions and equipment require training, experience and services that meet the specific needs of your child.
Experience and training
Our specially trained pediatric nurses have substantial experience managing diverse diagnoses and using the latest high-tech equipment. Our specialty care will enable your child to remain safely at home and attain the highest possible quality of life.
Professional care management
To ensure that you and your child receive the best care possible, we assign a case-management supervisor and patient-care coordinator to support your family. Your case-management supervisor will manage your child's care, provide you with progress updates, and establish ongoing communication with your child's doctors, therapists and other members of the health care team. Your care-management team will also submit all of the necessary paperwork to insurers. They are always available to you.
Your patient-care coordinator is responsible to ensure that you have a consistent, completed schedule, and stays in touch with you on a regular basis regarding your child's care. Supervisory, clinical and schedule-coordination support are available to you 24 hours a day.
