Patient & Visitor Guide

Personal Belongings

We strongly recommend the following to help keep your personal belongings safe during your hospital stay.

Glasses & Hearing Aids

When not in use, keep them in a case or container placed in the drawer of your bedside table. Do not leave them on top of your over-bed or bedside table or under your pillow.

Valuables

We recommend that you leave valuables such as jewelry, watches, money and credit cards at home. If you do bring them, the admitting staff or your nurse can arrange to place them in a safe. We will give you a receipt for your items, and you may claim them when you are discharged.

Never leave valuables in your room while you are away for testing or surgery. Christiana Care cannot assume responsibility for the loss of any valuables not placed in our safe, or for loss of personal property brought into the hospital.

Clothing

Keep your clothing in the closet, in the drawers of your bedside table or in your suitcase.
Please send soiled clothing home with a family member.

Dentures

When not in use, keep them in a denture cup placed inside the drawer of your bedside table. Do not leave them wrapped in tissues or paper towels, on food trays, in paper cups, on top of your over-bed or bedside table or under your pillow.
