Adult Day Care

Christiana Care's Adult Day Program provides a safe, caring home away from home for seniors or other individuals who may be limited due to age or illness. When you or a loved one cannot be home alone during the day, we offer expert medical care in a relaxed, stimulating environment, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Leisure and learning opportunities at our program include card games, trips to interesting places, music and crafts, social lunches and more.

For family members who care for loved ones, our Adult Day Care Program provides time to recharge, maintain a career or just accomplish the tasks of daily life with some extra support.

Our services include:

Bilingual, Spanish speaking staff.
Nursing care.
Recreational therapy.
Physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Nutritional services, lunches and snacks.
Personal care.
Laboratory services.
Supervised distribution of medication.
Podiatry.
Social services counseling.
Case management.
Transportation assistance.
Caregiver services.
Community resource information and referrals.

Additional services are available on-site, including primary care at the Henrietta Johnson Clinic, consulting psychiatric services, wound care, diabetes care and a hair salon.

Ongoing care, or respite care just when you need it

Life is hectic, and there are days when you just can't be there to care for your loved one—your son is in a school play, you have a doctor's appointment or you just need a time for yourself. It's OK. We know that although you want to be there as much as possible, sometimes there are other responsibilities that need your attention. That's why we offer respite day care. Our respite program will offer your loved one the same services as our regular adult day program. We only require notice 48 hours in advance and records of a current physical exam.

Insurance and financial assistance

Some insurance plans may cover adult day care. Additional on-site services may be covered by Medicare Part B or private insurance. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify through the Elderly and Disabled Home and Community-Based Waiver Program. Financial assistance is also available for those people who qualify through the Department of Veterans Affairs at 302-994-2511, extension 4708.
