Pediatrics
A doctor of pediatrics, or pediatrician, specializes in the care and treatment of children from infancy up to about 21 years of age. This includes routine exams and screenings, treatment of infectious diseases and other illnesses, preventing illnesses through vaccinations and by fostering healthy lifestyles. Pediatricians are also trained to detect, prevent and manage other problems that affect children and teens, including behavioral difficulties, social stresses, depression and anxiety other psychological and emotional difficulties.
Christiana Care pediatricians provide a complete range of medical care for children and teens, including:

- Sick visits.
- Screenings for lead poisoning.
- Risk assessments for tuberculosis.
- Care for chronic illnesses, including allergies, asthma and sickle-cell anemia.
- Care for physical disabilities and neurological problems.
- Referrals to Child Development Watch for developmental assessments.
- Referrals to our full-time psychological staff for help with emotional and behavioral problems, including attention-deficit disorder, eating disorders, parenting issues, depression and coping with grief.
